Entitled Looking at Landscape: Through the Lens of the Glover Prize , the exhibition includes the 2004 inaugural prize-winning work by Michael McWilliams, Bandicoot on a Log , through to Josh Foley's vibrant 2011 work Gee's Lookout , and Rodney Pople's Port Arthur .
QVMAG director Richard Mulvaney said the idea of holding such a retrospective came through recognition of the Glover art prize being the richest competition for landscape painting in Australia.
``That it happens right here at our doorstep in Evandale every year makes it even more special,'' Mr Mulvaney said.
Curator Jane Deeth has set up the exhibition in a way that invites viewers to select a ``people's choice''.
``Visitors can post on a wall their pick of the nine paintings and why they have chosen that particular work as their favourite,'' explained Mr Mulvaney, before last night's official opening.
Finalists for this year's $40,000 acquisitive Glover Prize for landscape will be announced tomorrow.
