The compassion from strangers towards those who had lost homes and property was being felt around Tasmania and across social media, whether it was passing around the hat at Hobart's Brisbane Hotel or plans for fund-raising events.
Bushfire support Facebook page Tassie Fires - We Can Help attracted 9466 subscribers in less than a day.
The page allowed people to promote fund-raisers, post information and search for loved ones.
Businesses and members of the public offered accommodation, food, bedding, clothing and any service they deemed helpful on the page throughout yesterday.
The Museum of Old and New Art announced it would hold a fund- raising concert on January 21.
The Launceston City Council and the Rotary Club of Tamar announced they would organise a gala event to raise money for bushfire victims.
Launceston Mayor Albert van Zetten said the council's customer service centre would start accepting donations of items for raffles and auctions for the event from tomorrow.
Tickets would go on sale from the Princess Theatre on Tuesday.
The Tasmanian Disability Lobby invited people to make contact if there were families living with disability in need of appropriate short- term accommodation, or aids and equipment lost in the fires.
