Tasmanian coach Hamish Ogilvie said the players had shown a real belief in themselves to come away with the win.
"The Rams really flooded back hard and shut down our tall forwards," Ogilvie said.
"We only had seven marks in our forward 50 and that makes it hard to kick goals.
"Once our guys lowered their eyes and looked at the smaller players in our offensive half we were able to break through," he said.
"We made a few mistakes in executing set plays and turned the ball over a bit too often.
"The guys are playing with real heart and if they can just tighten up the number of turnovers we will be a real show."
Devonport's Grant Birchall topped the Tasmanian statistics with an impressive 24 disposals alongside Mitchell Thorp who was the side's leading goal-kicker with two majors.
Tasmania will meet Queensland at Optus Oval on Saturday in the final.
Both sides remained unbeaten throughout the round robin competition.
