Northern Bombers Jesse Crichton, Launceston's Joe Groenewegen, Glenorchy's Ryan Harwood and North Hobart's Marcus Davies were among 75 elite under-18 draft prospects from around the country who were put through their paces on the first day of a three-day camp at the Australian Institute of Sport.
"The four guys had medicals and underwent some of the general testing which included agility and psycho-motor testing and 20-metre sprints," AFL Tasmania high- performance manager Nick Probert said.
"Tonight they have got the repeat sprints, which are six sprints with 30 seconds to recover between each one."
Crichton recorded times of 3.09 and 8.15 for the 20m sprint and agility test yesterday, Harwood 3.06 and 7.98 and Davies 3.89 and 8.42.
"Any time under eight seconds for the agility test is considered to be elite and there would only be a handful of boys who have gone under that which is very good for Ryan," Probert said.
Probert said the boys seemed to be handling the pressure and nerves of the occasion well.
Crichton had a one-on-one interview with about a dozen of the Hawthorn recruiting and coaching staff.
"It's quite intimidating with an empty chair in the middle of a semi- circle surrounded by about 12 or more people," Probert said.
The optional interviews can last anywhere from 20 to 40 minutes with AFL clubs choosing their interview candidates.
The potential draftees will undergo a beep test, a kicking skills test and club interviews today.
The draft camp will wrap up with further club interviews and a three- kilometre endurance test tomorrow.
