NSW golfer Cherie Byrnes held on to her lead on day two of the Australian Women's Amateur Open golf championship at Riverside yesterday.

Overcoming tricky wind gusts and hard and fast greens, Byrnes carded an excellent 72 to follow the opening day's 73.
The three-handicap golfer Byrnes now has a two-stroke lead over Victorian champion Kate MacIntosh who plays off scratch.
Nadina Taylor, from NSW, who shared the overnight lead with Byrnes, fell away with a 78 to be in sixth place at the end of 36 holes.
New Zealanders Renee Fowler and Catherine Knight matched Byrnes's second-round 72 with Fowler moving into third place and Knight fifth.
Launceston's Tammy Hall, the leading Tasmanian, carded 75 to improve on her opening round of 77.
Fowler was delighted with her round, pulling back some early bogeys with some satisfying birdies and great putting.
"The greens are very fast and giving some players a lot of trouble," Fowler said.
The conditions were not much different from her Rotorua home, she said.
"Putting was the best part of my game and I had great touch," said Fowler.
