"These are the best 20 players in Launceston ... it's going to be a very exciting match," Mr Patterson said.
"People really will be missing out on a high-quality basketball contest if they miss this one."
The women's match, which starts at 6.30pm, will feature New Zealand captain Rebecca Cotton and seven of her Launceston Tornadoes team- mates, including point guard Sallee Whitehead and starting forward Cassie Jordan.
A long-distance specialist, Whitehead will be one of the favourites to win the three-point shootout, held before the men's teams take the court at 8.40pm.
Southern Stars guard Adam Davey will be shooting for his second All-Star MVP award, while the inclusion of athletic players Robert Jetson, Adam Gibson and Glen Dunne has ensured an entertaining men's match.
The men are all square after eight All-Star games while the Northern Knights hold a four-game lead in women's competition, despite losing the past two.
