A small crew monitored the fire overnight - which was burning slowly - after a frenetic third day fighting the fire.
Smoke haze hung over Launceston - more than 40 kilometres from the fire - for much of the day.

Firefighters expect to have to work fast this morning.
Tony Allwright, of Forestry Tasmania, said that if crews could not strengthen the containment lines by mid- morning it was likely the fire would again spot over them.
The fire, first reported late on Saturday on Asbestos Road, seven kilometres west of York Town, had burnt out more than 560 hectares of state forest between Tattersalls Road and Dans Hill Conservation Area.
Earlier yesterday, fire incident controller Bob Hamilton described the fire as unpredictable and urged nearby residents to prepare their fire safety and emergency plans.
Also yesterday fire crews were called to two deliberate fires near Waverley and St Leonards.
