SYDNEY rider Eugen Schilter put in a marathon effort at yesterday's penny-farthing Century Ride, crossing the line first ahead of Hugh Morgan and Ryan Sullivan in just under eight-and-a-half hours. The 161km ride from Evandale to Deloraine and return was the lead-up event to the National Penny-Farthing Championships, which will be held at Evandale on Saturday. Seven riders took part in the gruelling main ride, with three taking on the 100km metric century ride from Evandale to Westbury and return. Event organiser Di Sullivan said the century ride was not as competitive as the championships, with winners simply claiming bragging rights for the win.
