Mr Dobrzynski said that he was satisfied that Mr Sweetnam had the expertise and would receive the support to guide the museum through the openings of the major redevelopments at both museum sites in the next few months.

There would also be ongoing mediation work with museum staff so that all their grievances could be aired and "we can work a way forward", Mr Dobrzynski said.

A strategic plan would then be worked out for the ongoing operation of the museum, he said.
