The festival has been an annual event in the city, and last year a group of people and the council built the whole 31-day March festival celebrating food, wine and local produce around it. There are almost 60 restaurants, wineries, breweries and boutique producers setting up stalls on the banks of the Mersey River today.
Celebrating the Year of the Farmer, a large agricultural tent will be featured this year with cooking demonstrations running throughout the day featuring celebrity chef Dwayne Bourke of Pure South in Melbourne.
The main stage will have classic live rock while the river stage will cover Celtic-inspired music to country tunes. Then retro music will be performed into the evening.
Belly dancing, choirs, clowns and circus performers will be spread out among the food and wine and there will be a kids' corner with puppets and other entertainment.
Gates open at 10.30am.
