A 45-YEAR-OLD Travellers Rest man died after his bike was struck by a car on the Bass Highway yesterday afternoon.

Police say the man was riding west along the highway at 4.30pm when he was struck by a car travelling in the same lane.
The cyclist was killed instantly. His name has not yet been released.
The driver, a 52-year-old man from Deloraine, was not injured and remained at the scene to assist police.
The accident occurred on the Bass Highway at Prospect, near the Westbury Road turn-off.
It is the second fatality on that stretch of the highway within a week.
On Saturday, a man was killed when his car and two trucks collided on the highway near Carrick.
Five people have died on Tasmanian roads in the past fortnight, bringing the state's road toll to 16.
The road was blocked for more than three hours after the crash, causing long peak-hour delays as commuters were diverted along the Meander Valley Highway. Police are still investigating the crash.
