Donations have come from friends, supporters and strangers alike, touched by the death of husband and father Aaron King only three months after the death of son, Noah, 10, who suffered from a rare brain condition.
The website for the Launceston family - mother Lisa, Jalen, 12, Harri, 7, and Kobe, 3 - was set up by an online friend, Naomi Ellis, of Brisbane, last Saturday and yesterday stood at over $29,700 with messages of sympathy and love accompanying many of the donations. One mother who donated $500 said: ``I always pause in my life when I hear a story of such tragedy. I don't know you personally, but I have lost children and I understand your pain just too much.''
Mr King was a much-loved teacher at Kings Meadows High and also a staunch Hawks supporter. Both the school and the AFL team are among the long list of donors to the grieving family, offering both financial assistance and words of strength and encouragement.
But many of the donations have come from people unknown to the family, hearing about their tragic tale through blogs by Mrs King and other followers and bloggers. One of these followers is famous US blogger Stephanie Nielson who has a blog called Nienie Dialogues.
Mrs Neilson was involved in an air crash which saw her lose her husband and suffer burns to 80 per cent of her body.
On hearing of the King family's latest tragedy she has posted a link to the fund-raising page and says: ``My friend told me about this story. My heart aches.''
