The Voice television show contestant Cameron Tapp was the special guest performer at the event and gave the 125 students an inspirational talk on facing their fears.
The ceremony was also attended by 50 business people, industry leaders, politicians and parents.
It is the third year that the school has taken part in the national program, which aims to bring together students and employers through workshops, site visits and talks to guide them on their way to further study and career goals.
The school's Beacon Foundation co-ordinator, Mark Gleeson, said it was not only the launch day for the program but also an opportunity for the students to demonstrate their commitment to it.
``The program works because they're getting information from real people in the work place and employers so it really resonates with them of what they need to do to secure their future,'' Mr Gleeson said. He said it was a good way for students to have aspirations for where they wanted their future to take them.
``This is an opportunity for the grade 10s to make a public commitment to their school community that they will do this,'' principal Ann Fedyk said.
``And it's also a good way of showing the students that the community is behind them.''
