CATHOLIC schools will move to a four-term school year irrespective of whether government schools change from the three-term model, and most independent schools are also expected to move to the new model.

The Catholic Education Office advised staff on Monday that the sector would move to the four-term model.
Independent Schools Association executive director Tony Crehan said it was up to each independent school whether they moved to four terms.
He said if government schools moved to four terms all independent schools would do the same.
He said some of the larger independent schools had already advised parents of the change for 2013.
