Samuel Bigwood, 20, of Claremont, was sentenced in the Supreme Court in Hobart this morning.
Last week he pleaded guilty to assaulting a taxi driver and two university students.
His brother, Benjamin Bigwood, 18, also pleaded guilty to assaulting the two students and received a six-month wholly suspended sentence and has been ordered to complete 150
hours of community service.
Justice Peter Evans rejected the brothers' denial that race had been a factor in the attacks.
"That race was a factor in what took place is plainly evident from what was said prior to each attack, and support for this assessment is to be found in this defendant's (Samuel
Bigwood's) MySpace page,'' he said.
The court heard Samuel Bigwood's MySpace page contained a number of racist images, including a map of Australia with the words, "F--- off we're full'' printed across it.
