The 35-year-old Seymour resident was last seen by his father on December 8 but police no longer hold any concerns for his welfare.
Mr Strochnetter is known for going woodcutting alone and regularly travels to Hobart to sell wood.
St Helens police Inspector John Woods said the search has been downgraded because electronic investigations revealed that he is is active and still in the state.
"I am convinced that he is alive and well, however, police would like him to contact any police station in the state and present himself or call his immediate family as they're very distraught,'' Inspector Woods said.
"It appears that he has left home without offering his family an explanation and they're very concerned and would like to hear from him.
"If he comes into a police station then I can confirm to his parent that he is alive and well, also I can pass any message on if he doesn't wish to have contact with them.''
