NAUGHTY nuns, President Obama, the Tasmanian Brass Band Championships and Premier David Bartlett all provide material for Old Nick Theatre Company's 62nd uni revue, Obama Mia. No one is spared from this company's scrutiny, politicians especially. A reputation for laugh-out-loud comedy with real shock value has been upheld again this year, and director Craig Wellington said Hobart audiences were enjoying the 2009 season, due to hit Launceston on May 26. "As expected, it's a mix of political satire, naughty jokes and a degree of nudity," he said. The show involves a cast of 22 and a crew of 20 from across the State. Wellington said the pace, choreography and music had been taken up a notch this year, making for a show of quality as well as humour. The irreverent series of skits looks at the year that's been, locally, nationally and internationally. "There's a lovely little scene set in an abbey with a priest and three nuns that people are finding deliciously funny," Wellington said. "There's a p...-take of a Boag's ad - we spent $30 filming what they might have spent a lot more filming." And then there's the title song, belting out some truths to the tune of Mama Mia.FACT FILE WHAT: Obama Mia - The 2009 Uni Revue, presented by The Old Nick Theatre Company.
