FORTY-EIGHT competitors braved the wind and rain for the Flinders Island Lions Club's fishing competition at North East River on Flinders Island. Fish caught on the day included gummy shark, flathead, silver trevally, mullet, cocky salmon and wrasse. All profit from the competition was donated to the Cord Blood Foundation for child cancer research. Lions member Kevin Haines suggested the competition to the club and did a lot of the work, along with John Langdon, Alan Wheatley and Angus Campbell to make the day a success. It was a great community day with everyone enjoying themselves.
