Girl, 17, charged over alleged knife attack

A 17-year-old girl has been charged with wounding following an alleged knife attack at the Kmart shopping complex yesterday.

Police allege that a dispute broke out between the girl and another female about 8pm yesterday.

It is alleged that the 17-year-old used a knife and caused two "slash-type cuts'' to the other female's face and back of her head.

Police say that the injuries were not serious.

The  17-year-old was arrested at the scene and was charged with wounding and being unlawfully armed in public.

She was bailed to appear in the Launceston Youth Justice Court at a later date.

Investigations are continuing.
