The cat, which has been appropriately named 'Ambo', is now in the care of Just Cats at Longford who are asking for anyone who may recognise the fluffy feline to come forward.
Founder and director of Just Cats Rachel Beech said it was a very unusual predicament that the cat found herself in.
"It's really interesting because at first we got told it had been found in an ambulance, as in the actual vehicle and then this morning we were told that she was actually in the roof of the station out at Deloraine," she said.
"The council was called to see if they could help and they delivered a net to try and get her out because she had been in there for a while, they mentioned that the people at the station had been hearing noises in the roof for a while."
Ms Beech said that the rescue operation turned into quite the ordeal, with numerous groups coming to try and retrieve her.
"They couldn't get it with a net so then they called the fire brigade and the firies came and they couldn't reach her, so they the SES had to come out and cut a hole in the ceiling to get her out.
"It was a whole ordeal to get to her, involving a lot of people."
After an inspection Just Cats found the cat was not de-sexed or micro-chipped and had given birth to kittens earlier in the year.
She is now de-sexed and will be looking for her new home as of Friday, however if someone does come forward as the owner they will be able to claim her.
Ms Beech said it was not uncommon for cats to be rescued from precarious situations.
"Ceilings are a common place for cats to be found as it's one of the warmer places in a building. At this time of year they are a warm, dry place that cats can tend to climb into," she said.
"We often get cats the are found in the gutter. We had one come in today that was just about frozen. The gutter is usually a place they tend to go to in summer as it's cooler. But it's not normally a place we find them this time of year and it's a horrible place to find them because they are cold and wet and need urgent care."
Ms Beech said that anyone who finds a cat in a tricky situation can give Just Cats a ring
"We can come out and asses the situation before advising who would be the best people to call or if we are able to help."
