The Tornadoes entered the final part of their two-game road-trip as one of the few remaining unbeaten sides in the league while the Falcons had enjoyed a mixed bag of results to start the season.

The Falcons looked up for the fight in the first term as they out-scored Launceston 28-18 to take a match-winning lead at the first break. The home side broke into attack at speed and had the Tornadoes missing their assignments in defensive transition but importantly converted the opportunities they created.

Their efficient scoring was the tale of the game as Carley Ernst (20 points, 10 rebounds and 62 per cent field goal), Renae Mokrzycki (21 points, 10 rebounds, 64 per cent) and Rebecca Cole (19 points, four assists) led the way for the Falcons.

The Falcons continued their scoring run in the second term and took away one of the Tornadoes' key strengths as they matched the visitors on the glass (41-42). Amelia Todhunter (10 points, eight assists, 50 per cent) and Sophia Locandro (12 points, 80 per cent) provided important contributions as secondary scorers in that term.

With a 14-point deficit at the main break, the Tornadoes seeked to turn it around in the second half.

They worked their way into the paint more often and converted as they led the scoring in the third and fourth terms to breathe life back into the match.

Keely Froling (28 points, 20 rebounds) and Kelsey Griffin (24 points, 15 rebounds) led the way for Launceston once again but the side struggled to convert their chances (37.5 per cent field goal - 50 per cent).

While the Tornadoes came within five points in the final term, the Falcons held on with some late scores to ensure Launceston would not enjoy the perfect away trip.
