The government will make an announcement related to Tasmania's close contact isolation rules by the end of next week, says Premier Jeremy Rockliff.

It follows news both NSW and Queensland had scrapped their requirements for close contacts of COVID cases to isolate if they tested negative.
It also follows a push from Tasmania's peak business groups for Tasmania to ditch the system, citing multiple business closures and people "stuck" at home despite not contracting COVID.
"I recognise the close contact rules which are there for very important reasons of course, backed up by that public health advice," Premier Rockliff said on Thursday.
"I understand the disruption to businesses in terms of those close contact rules.
"Often we've followed other states in terms of borders reopening and some of the restriction rules in terms of relaxing restriction rules, and Public Health are working through those matters now in conjunction with the [Australian Health Protection Principal Committee].
"You can expect an announcement from the government by the end of next week in terms of a pathway forward of reducing those close contact rules."
