The Launceston Ukulele Jamboree is described as "a wild west bonanza of uke madness".
Local musician Jackie Anifandis has been running community ukulele groups for the past three years and has taught hundreds of local adults and children to play.
"I've always seen amazing uke festivals advertised in other states and dreamed of going to them. So I thought I'd make my own here in Launceston and add another quirky, fun event to our local calendar," she said.
Headlining the show is popular Queensland alt-folk country duo AlfanAnt with Hobart-based trio Moonshine Whiskers and the Ragged Pony as well as Ukes of Hazzard and Don't Tell Bruce.
Workshops will be presented to the audience between performances and will include presentations on songwriting basics, changing the feel/genre of a song, as well as a "using your uke as percussion" tutorial from local Taiko Drummer Yyan Ng.
Yyan is a multi-instrumentalist and has performed at all the major folk festivals in Tasmania and on the mainland and held residencies at MONA.
Tickets for the Launceston Ukulele Jamboree event are currently on sale via Oztix and the Launceston Ukulele Jamboree Facebook event page.
