In a statement the Prime Minister's Officer said Mr Morrison's follow security vehicle was involved in a crash near Elizabeth Town on Wednesday.
Mr Morrison was travelling to the North-West Coast at the time.
"The PM is not injured and was not involved in the accident," the prime minister's office said in a statement.
"Two Tasmanian Police officers and two Federal Police officers from the PM's security detail who were in the follow vehicle have been taken to hospital from the scene for further assessment."
A Tasmania Police spokesman said initial enquiries indicate that a Mitsubishi Triton has collided with the rear of an unmarked police car while attempting to merge between Deloraine and Latrobe.
"Four police officers, a man and a woman from AFP, and two men from Tasmania Police, received non-life-threatening injuries, after their vehicle rolled down an embankment," the spokesman said.
"As is normal process for a crash involving police, the Tasmania Police Professional Standards Unit has been advised and will monitor the investigation."
The statement by the prime minister's office said all officers were conscious when they were taken to hospital and the driver of the other vehicle was not injured.
"Family members of the officers have been contacted and are being kept informed of their condition," the statement said.
"The PM is always extremely grateful for the protection provided by his security team and extends his best wishes for their recovery and to their families."
A police spokesman said who witnessed the crash is asked to contact police on 131 444.
