Mr Rockliff confirmed on Friday he would remain as Minister for Health and Minister for Health and Wellbeing while he is premier.

"It is my plan to lead a government with integrity," Mr Rockliff said.

"A government that is courageous, accountable and delivers on its commitment, but above all I will lead a government with heart.

"It is a great privilege to have the support of my colleagues and continue the work of my predecessors Peter Gutwein and Will Hodgman."

He took the opportunity to quash rumours about his potential retirement.

"Rumour are rumours, and people probably perceive someone as being in parliament for some ... time that it's time to move on.. that's not me, I wouldn't have stood in the last election if I wasn't committed," he said.

"I am committed to the 2025 election and the entirety of that term should we be successful."

He said Michael Ferguson would serve as his deputy premier as well as treasurer.

"I thank Michael for his support and encouragement," Mr Rockliff said.

"I value Michael's experience, Michael's economic and infrastructure credentials, and his very strong work ethic.

"Michael has a real sense of duty to serve the people of Tasmania."

Mr Rockliff said he was looking forward to continuing the work of Peter Gutwein, but recognised they still had work to do.

"I know there is still a lot of work to do to ensure everyone benefits," he said.

"There is no reason why Tasmania has to miss out on anything.

"My vision for Tasmania is simple, it is to be a place where everyone feels values, feels included, encouraged and supported to be the best person they can possibly be.

"We will work every single day to ensure Tasmanians have the opportunity of going about their daily lives and ensuring they have the opportunity of a job.

"We will ensure the very strong momentum built up over the last eight years.,. we will continue that momentum."

Mr Rockliff said Tasmania was "utterly well and truly in my blood".

"I was born here, bred here, I have farmed land he and I will do all I possibly can in my role as premier."

Mr Rockliff said his background as a Lifeline telephone counsellor in his 20s had helped shaped the person he was and his interest in helping improve mental health services for Tasmanians and maintaining the Mental Health and Wellbeing portfolio.

"I became enormously committed through that lived experience listening to vulnerable people who had nowhere else to turn," he said.

Mr Rockliff said he would also continue Mr Gutwein's push for an AFL team for Tasmania.

"I am determined to finish what he has started so Tasmania has its own team, once and for all," he said. "It is my plan to lead a government with integrity," Mr Rockliff said.
