The 18-year-old, who was vice-captain last year, will lead the team in their season-opener against Sandringham Dragons at Prospect Park on Saturday from 12pm.

It's the over-age player's third NAB League season and she's excited to get stuck into it.

Blair, who played juniors at East Launceston and is now at Old Scotch Collegians, supports North Melbourne in the AFLW.

The young centre half-back is inspired by Kangaroos skipper Emma Kearney.

"She's a confident and energetic person and really approachable for all the girls," Blair said. Blair also wants to be approachable on-and-off the field. The teenager, who made her VFLW debut with North Melbourne last year, feels listening to others is another valuable leadership skill.

"Just being really upbeat and energetic and willing to allow others to have a voice as well, not only myself leading at the front but allowing others to step up and take that role as well is really important," she said.

Watching the AFLW this summer has the promising youngster eager to play on Saturday. "I've been watching every game, our past coach (Cameron Joyce) is now coaching the Suns side, so it's been really awesome, he had his first win on the weekend as well," she said.

It will be the first time the Devils play the Dragons as they didn't meet in last season's fixture and their 2020 encounter was cancelled. The Devils will looking to build on their debut finals appearance last season.

Claire Ransom (North Hobart) and Meghan Gaffney (Ulverstone) are the Devils' vice-captains this year.

Amy Prokopiec (Clarence), Ruby Pacey (Clarence) and Charlie Vandenberg (Wynyard) are in the extended leadership group.

Launceston's Jenna Griffiths, who has been named in the forward-pocket, will make her NAB League debut on Saturday.

Blair said the Devils started their pre-season in November and had had some COVID interruptions.

"We've just had to be adaptive and diligent throughout our trainings," she said. "Just being able to train by yourself over the holiday break and in small groups as well."

Blair is aware there may be more coronavirus interruptions ahead and knows the group will have to be flexible.
