Rory Burns: 77 runs at 12.83 (3 Tests)

1/10. Was bowled around his legs by Mitchell Starc on the opening ball of the series at the Gabba in a moment that set the tone. Found out technique-wise. Scored just four runs across three first innings digs.

Dawid Malan: 244 runs at 24.4 (5 Tests)

4/10. One of England's best early on with two 80s in the first two Tests but fell away badly and didn't pass 25 in the three games following.

Joe Root: 322 runs at 32.2 (5 Tests)

5/10. Was a painful tour for England's best batter. Copped a delivery to the "lower abdomen" at training and had to deal with the new ball far too often for a No.4. Scored three half-centuries.

Ben Stokes: 236 runs at 23.6, 4 wickets at 71.5 (5 Tests)

3/10. Was a long way from his game-changing best. Didn't bowl in the final match in Hobart due to a side strain and never really looked 100 per cent.

Ollie Pope: 67 runs at 11.16 (3 Tests)

2/10. Part of England's first XI for the first two games but was dropped after Adelaide. Recalled for the fifth Test after injuries hit.

Sam Billings: five dismissals, 30 runs at 15 (1 Test)

3/10. Debuted after the end of his Big Bash League stint in Hobart following injuries to Jos Buttler and back-up option Jonny Bairstow. Was enthusiastic.

Chris Woakes: 6 wickets at 55.33 (3 Tests)

2/10. At home swinging the ball in England but didn't have the tools to trouble Australia at home.

Mark Wood: 17 wickets at 26.64 (4 Tests)

8/10. Lion-hearted quick who was England's most dangerous bowler. Picked up a career-best 6-37 in Hobart. Didn't play the second Test in Adelaide when the series was alive.

Stuart Broad: 13 wickets at 26.3 (3 Tests)

7/10. Staggeringly left out of the first and second Tests. Good returns overall but 11 of his wickets came when the series was already lost.

Ollie Robinson: 11 wickets at 25.54 (4 Tests)

6/10. Respectable on paper but only sent down eight overs in the first innings at Blundstone Arena due to a back spasm. England's bowling coach said he needs to get fitter.

Jonny Bairstow: 194 runs at 48.5 (2 Tests)

7/10. Scored England's only century of the series in Sydney with a counter-attacking 113 after coming to the crease at 4-36.

Haseeb Hameed: 80 runs at 10 (4 Tests)

1/10. Kept his vest on in the Brisbane humidity and sweated plenty against the new ball. Dropped for the final match.

Jos Buttler: 12 dismissals, 107 runs at 15.28 ( 4 Tests)

2/10. Meek returns with the bat and was left red-faced after dropping some regulation catches.

Jimmy Anderson: 8 wickets at 23.37 (3 Tests)

7/10. Was a threat in what is almost certainly his last appearance on Australia shores. Along with Broad, England could have done with his services in the first Test.

Jack Leach: 6 wickets at 53.5 (3 Tests)

2/10. Was taken to the cleaners in Brisbane but ended his series on an adequate note with 4-84 at the SCG.
