Former Hydro Tasmania executive Andrew Catchpole has been appointed to advise Countrywide Renewable Hydrogen on its Tasmanian hydrogen project.

The company proposed a domestic hydrogen supply project to the state government three years ago and has since been working to create a supply chain from hydrogen production to use in Tasmania.
Countrywide Renewable Hydrogen managing director Geoffrey Drucker said Tasmania could be a leader in the global hydrogen market.
"The outcome will be tangible emissions-reduction particularly in road transport, materials handling, ferries, decarbonising natural gas and displacing fossil fuels where used for power generation in the state," he said.
Mr Catchpole was Hydro Tasmania's former chief strategy officer until he left the role in July 2021.
He received a $542,000 payout from the company, of which $439,000 was in redundancy pay and about $75,000 in untaken leave.
Mr Catchpole said Tasmania was perfectly positioned to play a key role in the emerging green hydrogen industry.
"Opportunities exist at both large export scale, but also for domestic scale production and use as we move to decarbonise those harder-to-reach sectors of our economy," he said.
