Three of those highly-ranked visitors will be making their way to Launceston's UTAS Stadium to face Hawthorn, with Sydney on Anzac Day, Brisbane and grand finalists the Western Bulldogs.

The Roos will welcome preliminary finalists Geelong and Port Adelaide to Blundstone Arena.

Gold Coast [in Launceston] and Adelaide [in Hobart] are the other sides scheduled to play in the state next season, with a "Tasmanian derby" between the Hawks and the Roos to take place in the South for the first time.

It will follow a bumper season of AFL content in 2021, which saw 14 games n the state, eight at UTAS, including two elimination finals, and six at Blundstone Arena.

Hawthorn chief commercial officer Ash Klein said his club was thrilled with its fixture, which will likely see Lance Franklin return to Launceston.

The 34-year-old played 28 games and kicked 97 goals during his time as a Hawk.

"The fact we were able to have six games down there into the first ever finals in Tasmania has given us a good launching pad into this year,'' he said.

"We are rapt with our fixture with what we have been given for Tasmania, as we really worked hard around the Anzac Day, which is a great result for footy in general and the Hawks fans down there.

"Having three of the four against strong finals contenders is great.

"We are fortunate to have the Swans go down there and get to see Buddy, a former friend of the club, and maybe a foe now, and will give the crowd something they don't normally get down there.

"But the most important thing will be the opportunity to pay our respects on what is one of the most important days on the calendar. We've worked hard and the AFL has been really supportive in bringing some strong teams to town."

Klein said it was a great bonus for the club to have an extra game in the state in Hobart.

North Melbourne acting chief executive Chris Simmonds described the mix of opponents in Hobart as "fantastic for our Tasmanian supporters".

The fixture release comes ahead of the state preparing to receive an answer on whether it will have its wish granted to receive entry into the national competition.

AFL club presidents will vote on the proposal for a Tasmanian team next year.

The deal with Hawthorn and North Melbourne to play games in the state was extended by a year in September to take into account the 2022 season.
