Excitement among fans was high before the action began, with many buoyed by the possibility of the island state playing host to the fifth Ashes Test in the weeks to come.
The battle between the Hobart Hurricanes and Sydney Sixers at UTAS stadium was the largest public gathering in Launceston since the AFL finals earlier this year, with fans from across the state turning out for the springtime clash.
