With another fixture set for the DEC next week, here are five light-hearted takeaways for your basketball fix.
Like father like son
Sam McDaniel will forever hold a place in JackJumpers history after being the franchise's first ever signing after moving south from Melbourne United.
The defensively focused guard enhanced his standing with the first point in JackJumpers history on Friday night by sinking a two-point jumper to open proceedings.
Two decades after Wayne McDaniel dazzled on the offensive end for the Hobart Devils through the '90s, McDaniel was a consistent presence on defence for Scott Roth's side.
Blessed are the cheeseburgers
The sold-out crowd at the Derwent Entertainment Centre made history as the largest crowd to attend a NBL game in the state.
The previous record belonged to the Hobart Devils when they hosted the Wildcats in Round 17 with 4684 in 1996 but it now stands with the JackJumpers at 4738.
At one point, you may have feared that the crowd's cheers would send the DEC into space as the JackJumpers closed in on a debut win over the Bullets.
It was hard to determine whether the fans cheered louder for the free cheeseburgers or Lamar Patterson's missed free-throws with 14-seconds to go which seemed to put victory in the JackJumpers hands.
Bullet hits the eject button
With the game within the Bullets grasp, star player Nathan Sobey looked most likely to deliver the Bullets an opening round victory.
With his side 73-71 up at the time, Sobey was fouled out of the game and headed for the tunnel but not before screaming "you're f***ing terrible," towards an official for good measure.
The moment seemed to be the catalyst for the JackJumpers who went on a 10-1 scoring run to ensure a victorious night to remember.
Cheeseboards for everyone
There was lots to take in at the DEC as merch flew off the shelves and the mega-tron hung over the midcourt like something out of a star trek movie.
Some may have noticed a cheeseboard package on certain seats at the DEC in what would easily rank as some of the finest food to be dished out at an NBL game.

The similarities was reminiscent of the Melbourne Demons' fans tendency to bring cheesboards to the AFL in the depths of winter but it's certainly an interesting new tradition.
Given the Demons premiership success in 2021, the JackJumpers would hope that the cheeseboard packages are not the only thing they can replicate this season.
Fear the Roth
The JackJumpers nail-biting 83-74 victory over the Bullets certainly gave the paying crowd what the bargained for in a thrilling final term and overtime period.
On a historic night, JackJumpers coach Scott Roth also became the first NBL coach to win on debut in overtime.
Roth will be hoping the win is the first of many for the fledging franchise with the Adelaide 36ers set to come to town on December 9.
But in the words of captain Clint Steindl, "this feels pretty bloody good."
