Alongside the tree lighting, Cityprom Launceston Central City has launched its promotional campaign "Love Launnie Christmas".
Under the campaign, the CBD will pay host to a mix of festive events and activities in the lead up to Christmas.
These include a "Find Santa's Reindeer" competition, along with a Christmas window display competition with a total prize pool of over $1200.
The city's malls and streets will also play host to a range of festive entertainment, musicians, community groups and street performers. The campaign will run until 24 December. To find out what's on visit launcestoncentralcity.com.au/christmas
