Strike It Out founder Kirsten Ritchie said four new clients were being referred to the organisation each week and demand was only set to increase over the school holidays.
"The kids are at home and they're growing, so the bill at the supermarket increases," Ms Ritchie said.
"Some families don't have enough money left over after rent to pay for groceries."
Ms Ritchie said the organisation desperately needed additional supplies for their annual Christmas hampers, with 150 local families set to receive one this year.
In addition to pantry staples, Strike It Out hopes to include the makings for roast chicken with all the trimmings, in addition to some treats for dessert.
"We want to make sure that every family can have a special meal on the table this Christmas," she said.
