A Trevallyn man has appeared in court facing an indecent assault charge almost six years after the date he was accused of the crime.
The man faced the Launceston Magistrates Court on Wednesday and was bailed to appear again on January 5 and enter a plea to the charge.
The charge related to an incident from February 2016.
It was alleged, at that time, he used his hands to touch the breasts and vagina of a female.
He was first supposed to appear in court on November 16, 2016. When he did not appear a warrant was issued.
His next court appearance was scheduled on that day for March 3 the following year.
That appearance date came and went, and the man again did not appear.
The man was represented in court by Tasmanian Legal Aid solicitor Kirsten Abercromby as the duty solicitor on the day.
Due to the nature of the alleged crimes he is not legally able to be named.
