Tasmania Police crash investigator Senior Constable Adam Lloyd said emergency services attempted to treat the man and provided CPR, but he died at the scene.
"He has run into the back of a black Ford Ranger."
"He was given CPR at the scene but unfortunately died at the scene."
Senior Constable Lloyd said none of the fatal five including speed, alcohol and not wearing a seatbelt were being considered as factors.
"At this stage it appears he has had a medical condition."
Emergency services remain at the scene and traffic is expected to begin to free-up soon.
