The Fridge O-doption Program, created by independent bottle shop chain The Bottle-O, recruited five street artists to decorate unloved fridges with unique designs to turn the white goods into art.

"Australians often discard their old fridges kerbside, which sees them end up as landfill. Sometimes all they need is a little repair, and a little love," general marketing manager Josh Gaudry said.

"The campaign is similar to a pet adoption drive, but with fridges that have already lived a life and are now in search of a new home.

"The artists have done an incredible job in designing unique, original artworks ready to feature in homes, offices, local community or sporting centres, men's sheds, or the good ol' Aussie pool room."

The program has also provided much-needed work to artists at a time when the arts sector has been severely impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Launceston's Charlton Maja successfully adopted the fridge known as Bubbles and thought the fridge, with its "major groovy vibes" and "colour palette", would fit right in at home.

The program runs for six weeks and ends on November 21, with Australians able to apply to adopt one of 10 original fridges.
