The three-time group 2 winner was beaten as a $1.10 favourite in Tuesday's second heat but qualified as the fastest second.
He was beaten 3-1/2 lengths by the fastest qualifier Aston Lee (25.21) and his personal time was 25.47 seconds.
That was marginally quicker than two other second placegetters, Blackpool Flash and Rosie Posie, who both recorded 25.49 seconds.
Ferdinand Boy has drawn box 3 for the final, outside two of the leading local contenders, Superior Wallis and Sacred Stance.
Superior Wallis was the second fastest qualifier in 25.26 while Sacred Stance upset hot favourite Blackpool Flash in 25.48.
Here's how the heats unfolded -
Heat 1: Blackpool Flash ($1.50) led with Sacred Stance ($2.50) settling on his outside. They staged a two-dog war before Sacred Stance edged clear to score by a head. Time: 25.48.
Heat 2: Aston Lee ($7) led while Ferdinand Boy was slightly slow to begin before kicking up to second. The favourite was within a length of the leader on the home turn but Aston Lee then shot away. Time: 25.21.
Heat 3: Harden Up Tommy ($3.70) led from the red box and never looked in danger. Time: 25.75.
Heat 4: Siberia ($10) was second to the turn then railed inside the leader Aston Virago to score by 1-1/4 lengths. Favourite Quick Joey Small ($2.10) found plenty of bother before flashing home late to cut Aston Virago out of second. Time: 25.65.
Heat 5: Buckle Up Miri ($51) led early, was headed off by Never Sweat then came again to score by almost a length in the slowest qualifier. Time: 26.0.
Heat 6: Superior Wallis ($1.50) was slightly slow to begin from the red but quickly railed through to take the lead and that was the end of the story. Strolled home by 6-1/2 lengths. Time: 25.26.
Heat 7: Nando Dreamer ($3.80) jumped second, was third to the turn then railed inside the leaders to score by just under a length. Time: 25.43.
Box draw for final on Friday September 26 -
1 Superior Wallis (Nicole Howard), 2 Sacred Stance (Ted Medhurst) 3 Ferdinand Boy (David Geall), 4 Siberia (Debbie Cannan), 5 Buckle Up Miri (Gary Johnson), 6 Harden Up Tommy (Butch Deverell), 7 Nando Dreamer (Eric Haldane), 8 Aston Lee (Blake Pursell). Res: Blackpool Flash, Rosie Posie.
WARRIOR RETURN PUT ON HOLD
Unbeaten star Turk Warrior has been scratched from the 3YO Handicap at Mowbray on Wednesday night but trainer Glenn Stevenson reports there is nothing wrong with the horse.
Stevenson said that, after robust discussion among connections, it had been decided to save Turk Warrior for a first-up tilt at the $100,000 3YO Cup in a fortnight.
"I think the large spread of weights was playing on their minds - he would have been giving Outbound 8kg after the claim," the trainer said.
"He had a good gallop today (Tuesday) and it's a possibility that he'll trial at Spreyton next week."
With unbeaten filly Queenborough Flyer also scratched, the 3YO Handicap will have only five runners chasing $23,000 in stakemoney.
There is a further $20,000 in Tasbred bonuses on offer to the two eligible runners, Coeur De Lyon and Need A Flutter.
Adam Trinder will have the other three runners which are not Tasbred.
BRUNTON SPRINTERS IMPRESS AT TRIALS
Leading trainer Scott Brunton produced two of his best sprinters at Tuesday's Elwick trials and both won narrowly but well.
Galenus, who is entered for a $75,000 benchmark 70 race at Ballarat on Saturday, narrowly accounted for the speedy Gee Gee Queen Bee in his trial.
He was restrained early by Siggy Carr and was included to over-race but went to the line under a tight hold.
The Inevitable won his trial by a half length from Amaword with Shot Of Irish, who was hard held, a further length away third.
Carr also restrained The Inevitable early before coming to the outside at the top of the straight and he was held together in the run to the line.
No overall time was recorded for The Inevitable's heat but he ran his last 600m in 34.34 which was the quickest of the session.
The fastest overall time for the seven 800m trials was credited to another Brunton runner, Neutralize, who scored under a tight hold in 52.17.
SIX WINNERS ALL UP FOR YOLE FAMILY
It was a Yole-fest at the rescheduled Hobart harness meeting on Tuesday when Ben Yole prepared five winners and his brother Mark chimed in with another.
Conor Crook and Jordan Chibnall each drove two of Ben Yole's winners and Nathan Ford drove the other.
Crook also won on the Mark Yole-trained Northview Dave to make it a treble.
It wasn't a great day for favourite-backers with Northview Dave, who led throughout in the Rating 58-64, the only popular elect to salute.
Nifty Jolt, as former Queenslander, made a winning debut for Ben Yole in the Rating 41-47, coming from one-out, three-back at the bell to score by a head in a grinding finish.
