Public Health is reviewing a relaxation of COVID-19 restrictions placed on events over summer, but Premier Peter Gutwein says this will rely on higher vaccination rates among young people in particular.

Organisers in recent times have either cancelled events or complained about onerous restrictions placed on crowd numbers and activities, such as bans on drinking while standing up and dancing, by health authorities.
Mr Gutwein said 89 per cent of eligible Tasmanians over the age of 12 years had received their first dose and 78 per cent were fully vaccinated.
Just 65 per cent of Tasmanians between 12 and 15 years had received their first dose, he said.
Mr Gutwein said a cohort of concern was the 16 to 24 year age group where just 75 per cent had received their first dose.
He said those who were yet to book in a vaccination should acknowledge COVID-19 had cost 5 million lives globally.
"Let's not con ourselves, we still have work to do," Mr Gutwein said.
"We've got to get to a point where our vaccination rate is higher."
He said Public Health were considering relaxing restrictions on events if those in attendance were fully vaccinated.
The state's borders are due to reopen on December 15.
