Inquiry would hold up container refund scheme rollout, says government
Labor's intention to move to send legislation to create a container refund scheme to a committee for inquiry will unnecessarily delay its rollout, Environment Minister Roger Jaensch says.
Labor members on Wednesday expressed their reservations over the proposed model and its impact on businesses.
Mr Jaensch said the government was confident the scheme would deliver the best outcome for the state.
He said it provided opportunities for financial opportunities for ordinary Tasmanians, community groups and charities, and would reduce litter.
