TOO MANY CONCUSSIONS
HOW can Cricket Australia possibly justify the use of a young man who has suffered 10 concussions?
John Snooks, West Launceston.
THE METHANE BANDWAGON
IF only all those on the methane bandwagon put their money where their mouths are, the problem would be solved.
All they have to do is stop importing products that generate the stuff, such as gas and meat. Even better, they should stop putting the boot into countries like Australia, Brazil, etc and take full responsibility for everything they consume.
Gordon Thurlow, Launceston.
OUR DEMOCRACY
LABOR is undermining the two-party system. Federally, it has supported the Coalition's cruelty in the way asylum seekers are treated; it has supported over 80 pieces of legislation that restrict our human rights in the name of "national security" (think Assange, Collaery, whistle blowers in general); and it has joined with the Coalition in refusing to do anything about the super dangerous methane emissions.
In Tasmania, the ALP has sided with the giant gambling industry despite knowing that 80 per cent of the population want restrictions on poker machines. All these are derelictions of Labor philosophy.
Current Labor politicians, with a few magnificent exceptions, are self-protective cowards in making themselves "a small target".

In doing so, they are refusing to provide opposition and accountability in matters that affect us all. In effect, we have a one-party Lib-Lab system on almost everything to do with restricting human rights.
To smash this assault on our democratic rights we must vote for candidates who stand up for our interests. Labor won't any more, the Coalition never have, never will.
We must therefore support Independents and Greens if we want our democracy back.
John Biggs, Mt Nelson.
A WIN-WIN SITUATION FOR TAMAR
LET'S ask the green hydrogen proponents to fund the clean-up of the upper Tamar (upgrade Taswater infrastructure), in return for fresh water for their plants from Tamar Lake, and they won't need a pipeline. This would prevent raw sewage going into the river.
Fresh water for them, a clean river for us.
No more argy-bargy about who pays for the clean-up.
