Carols by Candlelight, which will be held on Saturday, December 18, is traditionally held at City Park, but last year's event was cancelled as a result of uncertainty arising from the COVID-19 pandemic.
This year however a group of other Rotary Club members got into action, with organiser Sandy Astill, from Rotary Passport Club, proud to bring back the iconic Christmas event.
"In the past, the event was organised by the Tamar Sunrise Rotary Club and they decided halfway through the year this year they didn't want to run it again," Mrs Astill said.
"It looked as though it was going to be cancelled, so a group of us from different Rotary Clubs got together and met with the council. It's a real community event, if any event is a community event this one really is."
The Carols by Candlelight committee got the go-ahead to plan for this year's event in August.
"With the help of the community, businesses and organisations, we have been able to pull this together in such a short time frame, which is amazing," Mrs Astill said.
The event also raises money for The Examiner's Empty Stocking Appeal, which collects much-needed funds for Launceston's most vulnerable citizens.

"It's traditionally an event that supports the Empty Stocking Appeal and we absolutely wanted to continue that, so all the sales from all the candles at the event will be going to the appeal. There will also be donation tins for people to give some spare cash to those in need."
Being the first Carols held by the new group Mrs Astill said it was something the committee was keen to take on board and be a part of going into the future.
"We have a three year commitment from the Country Club for the use of the venue," Mrs Astill said.
"We are exited to be the new organising committee for a while. Everybody is doing a fabulous job and it really is an event to get everyone excited for Christmas and spread some cheer around, it's a family event that people really look forward to.
"For some people its not Christmas without the annual Carols by Candlelight."
Carols by Candlelight tickets are available on the Rotary Passport Tasmania website with limited numbers due to COVID-19 restrictions.
