Tasmania Police report the woman was detected driving on Valley Road, Devonport around 5pm on Wednesday.
"After receiving a call from a member of the public about the woman's driving behaviour, police intercepted the vehicle, and the woman returned a positive alcohol test," a police spokesman said.
The driver was taken to Devonport Police Station for further testing.
"A further breath analysis revealed her reading to be 0.265, over five times the legal limit," the spokesman said.
The woman was charged with exceeding 0.05 blood alcohol concentration and was disqualified from driving for 12 months.
The woman was bailed to appear in the Devonport Magistrates Court on December 21.
"Police urge members of the public to contact 131 444 if they witness any dangerous driving on Tasmanian streets," the spokesman said.
