The three people, Wynyard's Isaiah Dixon and Bree-Anna Thomas, and West Ulverstone's Thomas Courto, have been missing since Monday afternoon.

Devonport inspector Steve Jones said as the days and hours progressed the search area would continue to expand.

"The point of the search at the moment is to deploy all our assets that we possibly can and I am focusing my attention on locating the vessel and the three persons on board," he said.

"Until those persons are found we are just hoping for the best.

"The search area has been extensive as has the assets that have been deployed.

"We have had assets up in the air pretty much all night, all morning and early this afternoon as well as marine vessels."

Inspector Jones said the trio had been last seen leaving Boat Harbour towards Table Cape around midday on Monday and the last contact via mobile phone had been around 2.35pm on Monday.

"I can lend truth to the sighting at Boat Harbour, all of the other sightings have been found not to be credible," he said.

"It is obviously a very difficult time for the family members with their loved ones missing but we are putting all our efforts in to trying to locate these three persons on board safely.

"I briefed them on the investigation and also the search and provided them all the information that I could and all the efforts that have been put towards trying to safely locate their family members."

Inspector Jones said Isaiah, whose dad owned the boat, had a boat license and the boat was fitted with the appropriate safety gear including flares and life jackets.

Inspector Jones said it was yet to be determined what the search effort would look like into Tuesday evening.

"I would rather concentrate on focusing on searching for these people and locating them rather than put my efforts into thinking when the search will conclude," he said.
