The three people, Isaiah Dixon, Bree-Anna Thomas and Thomas Courto, have been missing since Monday afternoon.
Police said the trio went out in a 17 foot Caribbean half cab vessel about 12pm on Monday.
When the boat had not returned by 5.30pm, concerned family members called emergency services for assistance.
Wynyard's Ricky Chaplyn arrived at the wharf about 7am after receiving an emergency text alerting him to the incident, ready to join the search effort alongside other members of the Wynyard Volunteer Marine Rescue.
"I've been itching to get out there and help," he said.
"My crew member is on his way, he'll be here soon."
Mr Chaplyn said the volunteers would head out in a stabicraft and travel west toward Rocky Cape.
"We'll be scouring the areas with the help of helicopters and Surf Rescue," he explained.
"We have the Surf Life Saving duckies to scour the shallower waters, we'll be further out."
Police would like to speak to anyone who has had contact with the three people on the boat since 3pm on Monday.
Significant resources from Tasmania Police, AMSA, and Surf Life Saving; including multiple police vessels and aircraft from Victoria are currently searching for the boat.
Anyone with information that would assist the police investigation is urged to contact police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers anonymously on 1800 333 000.

An air and sea search is underway for a boat which failed to return from a trip on Bass Strait on Monday.
A Tasmania Police spokesperson said a 17 foot Caribbean half cab vessel with three people on board had failed to return to shore.
"Police received a call from a family member of one of the passengers at 17.35 to raise the alarm," the spokesperson said.
Police Search and Rescue, with the assistance of the Australian Maritime Safety Authority, had begun a search in the area between Wynyard and Rocky Cape.
"Members of the public will expect to see an increase in aircraft and marine vessels in the area throughout the night and into the morning if the missing vessel is not located," the spokesperson said.
