One of the state's key contact tracing strategies is unavailable to some users while "technical issues" are ironed out.
Issues with the Check in TAS app were on Sunday acknowledged by Tasmania's Health Department.
Department Secretary Kathrine Morgan-Wicks said the issues were only affecting some users and occurred when they were "attempting to scan a business' QR code".
Ms Morgan-Wicks said resolving the problem would be a "matter of urgency" for the technical support team, but could not provide a timeframe for resolution.
She said upon scanning the code users were met with an error message.
"For those users who are experiencing this error, we ask that you continue checking in using one of the following options: Getting others in your group to check in for you, asking the business to check you in on their device (if available), manually checking in with pen and paper," Ms Morgan-Wicks said.
The app is available to be used across other states including Queensland, the Northern Territory and the ACT, but it was not known whether the issues were affecting other jurisdictions.
