The older Tasmanian community will be able to catch the bus for free during the 2021 Seniors Week.
The initiative means any Seniors Card holders who also have a Greencard will be able utilise the free Metro bus offer from October 11-17.
Transport Minister Michael Ferguson said the free travel was a way to show support to the older community while encouraging the use of public transport.
Mr Ferguson said 5000 free rides were given to seniors last year and he hoped this year the record would be beaten.

Metro Tasmania chief executive Katie Cooper said every bus was now more accessible as it had the ability to be lowered closer to the ground and have a ramp rolled out.
"Transport is for everybody in the community," she said.
Council On The Ageing director Carl Cooper said public transport was essential for aged people to be able to travel.
Greencards can be obtained from Metro stores.
