A 13-year-old has been charged for starting a fire in Launceston's Cotton On store on Wednesday.

The fire, which occurred about 5.15pm, was extinguished by the inbuilt sprinkler system before fire crews arrived.
Two youths were identified as part of the police investigation, with one of the youths to be proceeded against under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act with a charge of unlawfully setting fire to property.
The other youth was not charged.
Tasmania Police thanked nearby businesses and City of Launceston council for their assistance, particularly for access to CCTV footage which was crucial to the investigation.
