A Waverley man who allegedly tried to flush $8680 down the toilet a fortnight ago was raided by police on September 30 and was allegedly in possession of a further $6737 and a substantial amount of drugs.

Stephen James Williams, 40, appeared in the Launceston Magistrates Court after also being charged with a $115,000 aggravated burglary and stealing at George Town in June involving a large amount of collectable notes and coins and a will.
He also appeared on the unusual crime of consorting.

Court documents say Mr Williams was a convicted offender who had been given an official warning under Section 20D of the Police Offences Act not to consort with Samuel Sargison, Stuart Burgione or Jordyn Lea Fenton-Digney.
Police allege that Mr Williams consorted with Mr Sargison between February 13 and April 3, 2021 and also breached bail by communicating with him on April 14, 2021.
He has pleaded not guilty to the proceeds of crime count and the matter was committed to the Supreme Court for directions hearing on November 15, 2021.
Police raided his Waverley home for a second time on September 30 and the $6737 amount was seized, which police allege was the proceeds of crime. He was also charged with possession of ice (methylamphetamine) and possession of a glass pipe on the same date.
Mr Williams was charged with four counts of breach of bail for allegedly approaching Ms Fenton-Digney on May 29-30, 2021 and by electronic means and by telephone on September 13-14, 2021.
Magistrate Ken Stanton denied Mr Williams bail and remanded him in custody to reappear on the Magistrates Court charges on October 14.Those matters are adjourned until October 14.
In July 2019 Mr Williams was charged with dealing with the proceeds of crime ($8530) in Newstead and after pleading not guilty was committed to the Supreme Court in October 2020.
Mr Williams has also pleaded not guilty to trafficking in a controlled substance namely methylamphetamine (known as ice) after a raid on the former Lloyds Hotel on November 13, 2019.
He has also pleaded not guilty to dealing with the proceeds of crime $125,771, possession of a prohibited firearm, namely two hand held stun guns.
