North Esk grabbed the last two games to defeat East Launceston 7-5 in northern croquet's B-grade opener.
Latrobe beat Devonport 8-3 in the other game.
In the open series, North Esk overwhelmed Latrobe 9-3 and East Launceston had a good win against the composite side 8-4.
The C-grade match between East and Devonport was exciting relying on Devonport to win the last match during which heavy rain fell swamping the lawn and ending the match. East won 3-3 with a difference of 33-29 hoops.
St Leonards defeated Latrobe 5-1 while North Esk had the bye.
Twilight croquet starts at 4.30pm on Thursday with all club members invited and visitors welcome.
Green light: B-grade and open kicked off this week.
