Despite plenty of previous TSLW talent coming into the competition this season, the Thistles' star held off Launceston skipper Dearne Taylor by one vote to claim the award.
Polling 23 votes to take out the award, Nicholas improved on her fifth-placed 2019 finish, sitting behind Kate Child, Hannah Viney, Kate Minchin and Kiara Foley in the NTFAW's opening season.
Nicholas booted 31 goals in the home-and-away season, including a bag of six against Deloraine, appearing in Old Scotch's best on seven occasions.
Scottsdale and South Launceston both featured two players in the top 10, while four former North Launceston TSLW players (Jodie Clifford, Sophie Townsend, Maggie Cuthbertson and Hayley Breward) all made an entrance.

TEAM OF THE YEAR
NTFAW premiers Launceston and Old Scotch featured the most in the association's team of the year, with five players from each club earning guernseys.
Launceston's ruthless defence throughout the season was rewarded as coach Mikayla Binns and the Hill sisters - Georgia and Kelsie - occupied three of the five positions down back.
Old Scotch featured players all around the ground, with someone in the defence, the midfield, the forward, the followers and the interchange.
Thistles star Ella Maurer gave the team an AFLW flavour, while two players from Scottsdale, grand finalists Old Launcestonians, South Launceston and Bridgenorth were selected, as were Deloraine's Cecilia Cameron, Hillwood's Maurangi, Meander Valley's Townsend and George Town's Clifford.
Magpies gun Alex Hall was named captain.
